BIOGRAPHY
Raised in Lake Charles, Sye moved to Houma after law school to open his own law firm. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University. Sye’s legal practice is focused primarily on property damage claims (hurricanes, tornados, hail, fire, accidental water discharge, etc.). Sye also handles business transactions and general litigation. Not afraid to go to court, Sye has received favorable verdicts, rulings, and settlements at the appellate and trial level recovering numerous multi-million-dollar awards and settlements for his clients. He has closed several company acquisitions, private and public capital raises, asset sales, contract negotiations, start-ups companies, real estate closings, and various general litigation lawsuits.
Sye is a former Assistant District Attorney for Terrebonne Parish where he handled felony trials and asset forfeiture cases for over 7 years. Sye boasts an impressive resume of handling more than 1,000 criminal cases involving the most severe crimes.
In addition to his legal practice, Sye is the owner of several businesses and volunteers his time in numerous charity organizations. Sye is adamant about helping others in need and routinely provides pro bono work. When not assisting clients, Sye enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, and in-shore/offshore fishing.

PUBLICATIONS
The Oil Pollution Act of 1990: An Oil Slick Over Robins Dry Dock, 8 Loy. Mar. L.J. 153 (2010).
While in law school and prior to the BP Oil Spill, Sye’s research paper on the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 was published in the Loyola Maritime Law Journal. Ironically that same year, the infamous BP Oil Spill occurred just a few months later. Sye’s publication was cited and utilized by lawyers, journals, articles, research papers, court pleadings, legislators, and attorney general’s offices throughout the country to argue lawsuits and draft legislation in response to the BP Oil Spill.
