Usufruct

According to merriam-webster.com usufruct is “the legal right of using and enjoying the fruits or profits of something belonging to another.”

Creditor does not have a right to collect from a naked owner.

The Louisiana Civil Code lists the rights and obligations of a naked owner: A naked owner may dispose of the naked ownership, but he cannot thereby affect the usufruct. He or she may also establish real rights on the property subject to usufruct. They must also not interfere with the rights of the usufructuary. Lastly, the naked owner may not make alterations or improvements on the property subject to the usufruct.
